Tourism is Virginia’s number one industry and each year people travel from nearby cities and distant locations to appreciate the beauty and heritage found here.
People who are interested in learning how they may be able to earn income from this industry are encouraged to attend a free program being offered June 3 in Amherst County.
The workshop will be held at Morris Orchard, located at 226 Tobacco Row, in Monroe.
At 11 a.m., participants will have an opportunity to tour Morris Orchard with the workshop beginning at noon and concluding at 4:30 p.m.
This one-day event is presented by the Virginia Cooperative Extension, the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and the Virginia Tourism Corporation.
Topics will include food service on the farm, managing liability, and generating new ideas as well as a discussion of what has and hasn’t worked by an experienced agritourism operator.
