Audrey Lee Adams, 90, of Aistrop Lane, Faber died on Dec. 30.
Born Jan. 9, 1917, in Hot Springs, she was a daughter of the late Edward Adams and Sallie Keyser Adams. She was a retired supervisor at the Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, prior to moving to Nelson County. She was a member of Adial Baptist Church in Faber.
She is survived by her sister Ola Virginia Fox, of Faber; three nieces, Sherry L. Harman, of Massies Mill, Kathryn L. Colbert, of Shipman, and Tammi Anne Tippett, of Hollywood, Md.; a nephew, Edward A. Fox, of Ingleside, Ill., nine grea-nieces and nephews and five great-great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Jan. 3 at the graveside in Warm Springs Cemetery at Hot Springs.

Carrie Hatter Ashley, 94, of Lowesville, died on Jan. 3.
She was born July 18, 1913, a daughter of the late Joseph T. and Ethel Campbell Hatter.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Henry Campbell and Douglas Ashley. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and attended Kingswood Baptist Church. She retired from the Lynchburg Training Center with over 26 years of service.
She is survived by two sons, Douglas L. Ashley Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Lynchburg and Willie Delbert Campbell and his wife, Kathleen, of Madison Heights; one sister, Virginia Massie, of Lowesville; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and seven great great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Dreyfous; a brother, Walter Hatter; and two sisters, Hattie Ashley and Nannie Marsh.
A funeral service was conducted on Jan. 6 at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home. Burial was in Jonesboro Cemetery.

L. David Cash died on Jan. 6. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Harriette S. Cash.
Born in Amherst County on Feb. 21, 1934, he was a son of the late Hubert Birch and JoAnna Wright Cash.
He was retired from Limitorque after 40 years of service and remained busy during his retirement years, first as the owner and proprietor of Whistle Stop Antiques in Monroe. He was also an avid gardener. Most recently, he accepted a part time position at the First National Bank of Altavista. He was also a member of Court Street United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by one brother, William H. Cash and one brother-in-law, Willie A. Ogden.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Susan Cash Leazer and her husband, D. Keith, of Madison Heights; one sister, Pauline C. Ogden, of Amherst; two grandchildren, David Andrew Leazer and Sarah Elizabeth Leazer and her fiancé, Eric David Johnson; one aunt, Ethel Owen, of Madison Heights, and a number of nieces, nephews and many friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Jan. 10 at Court Street United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.

Deane Saunders Dyson, 90, of Bedford died on Jan. 2.
She was born in Bedford County on Oct. 14, 1917, one of eight children of the late Samuel Henry Saunders and Mary Pattie Watson Saunders. Her husband was the late James Marshall Dyson.
She was a member of Bedford Baptist Church, where she taught sunday school and participated in the life of her church prior to moving to the Atlanta area. She was a graduate of the former Farmville Teachers College, now Longwood University, and taught school in Bedford County and the Atlanta, Ga. area for many years. She and her husband endowed a dormitory at Savannah College of Art and Design. The college named the dormitory "The Dyson House" in their honor.
Following her husband's retirement, they returned to Bedford and were active in civic and social events. She was a member of The Friday Book Club and The Garden Club, of Bedford.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother and six sisters, J. Thomas Saunders, Patsy W. Saunders, Hannah S. Gill, Ruby S. Saunders, Jessie S. Gwenn, Lois S. Branch and Sammie S. Driscoll and her granddaughter, Elizabeth Haverstick.
She is survived by her daughter, Patty D. Graham and her husband, Billy, of Bedford; two grandsons, John Thomas Clotfelter and his fiancée, Laura Kelly of Marietta, Ga., and Max Edwin Clotfelter, of Seattle, Wash.
Funeral services were conducted on Jan. 4 at the Tharp Funeral Chapel. A private burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery.

Nathaniel Alexander Giles, 79, died on Dec. 31.
Born in Nelson County on March 26, 1928, he was the son of the late Saloan and Lucy Loving Giles.
He attended Nelson County schools and served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Gwen Giles; two sons, Nathaniel Giles Jr. (Nitten) of Monroe and Wayne E. Giles of Amherst; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by on son, Lewis E. Giles.
A funeral service was conducted on Jan. 5 at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home. Burial was in Zion Hill Cemetery.

Iva Mawyer Wood Holland, 94, of Lynchburg, died on Jan. 1. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 55 years, Buster H. Wood and the late Earl Holland.
Born March 28, 1913 in Nelson County, she was a daughter of the late William Franklin Mawyer and Minnie Virginia Weaver Mawyer. She was a member of People's Baptist Church and was retired from Sweet Briar College.
In addition to her husband's and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, John Lee Wood and William R. Wood.
She is survived by two daughters, Helen W. Hamilton and her husband, Matthew of Richmond, Virginia W. Powell and her husband, Taylor of Lynchburg; a sister, Annie L. Mawyer of Lovingston; a daughter-in-law, Geneva Wood Fuller of Lynchburg; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was conducted on Jan. 5 in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Services. Burial followed in Fort Hill Memorial Park.

Robert Kincaid Martin, 93, of Swan Road, Pamplin, died on Dec. 29. He was twice married, his first wife of 48 years was the late Virginia Parks Martin and his second wife was the late Oneeda Carson Thompson Martin.
Born in Appomattox County, Oct. 12, 1914, he was the third of seven children born to the late Edward Kinckle and Mary Adams Martin.
He was a member of Olive Branch United Methodist Church, a retired farmer and Grade A Dairyman. He was a former member of the Concord Ruritan Club and participated in the Young Hearts at Elon Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Anne M. Robinson and her husband, Richard, of Pamplin, and Luella M. Coleman, of Appomattox; five grandchildren, Donna R. Deaner and husband, Rodney, of Appomattox, Beverly Kim C. Horton and husband, Gary, of Laurinburg, N.C., Sally C. Selden and husband, Frank, of Lynchburg, Kinckle Robinson and his wife, LeeAnn, of Pamplin, and Ronald M. Coleman Jr., of Lynchburg; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Beverly K. Martin and G. C. Martin and his wife, Eloise, all of Gladstone; two sisters-in-law, LayFaye W. Martin, of Gladstone, and Louise L. Martin; a brother-in-law, T. T. Martin, both of Appomattox; three stepchildren, Shelby Harper, of Lynchburg, C. R. Thompson, of Rustburg, and Ricky Thompson and wife, Nancy, of Concord; seven stepgrandchildren, Russ Thompson, Chandler Thompson, Savannah Thompson, Janet White, Jimmy Russell Harper, Stephen Harper, and Sharon Poach and seven step-great grandchildren.
In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by a son, Edward Kinckle Martin II; two sisters and two brothers, Marjorie M. Anderson, E. Carter Martin, Sallie M. Martin and John A. (Jack) Martin Sr.; a sister-in-law, Ellen M. Martin and a brother-in-law, Dave Anderson.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 1 in Olive Branch United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the Swan Family Cemetery.

Mary Bragg Shiflett, 78, of Crozet, died on Jan. 1.
She was born in Nelson County, the daughter of the late Birchie Bragg and Lottie S. Bragg.
She is preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey and Joe Bragg; two sisters, Rosetta Braden and Loretta Carner.
She is survived by one daughter, Connie Hodge and her husband, Robert, of Richmond; two grandchildren, Tabitha Gardner of Richmond, and Jeremy Gardner and his wife, Alison of Copper Mountain, Colo.; two sisters, Esther Roach and her husband, Prentice, of Barboursville and Hazel Campbell and her husband, Edward, of St Cloud, Fla.; two brothers, Frank Bragg and his wife, Norma of Waynesboro, and Radies Bragg and his wife, Virginia of Amelia; one sister-in-law, Shirley Morris and her husband, Lyman; three brothers-in-law, Charles Shiflett, Grady Shiflett and wife Peggy, and Gordon Shiflett.
She retired from Acme Visible Records, and worked part-time at the Dollar General, both in Crozet.
She was a member of the Crozet Baptist Church and worked with Care Ministry at the church.
A memorial service was held at the Crozet Baptist Church on Jan. 4. Private interment was held at Holly Memorial Gardens.

Orville Janny "Jack" Wade Sr., 84, of 215 Wades Lane, Nellysford, died on Dec. 26.
He was born in Greenfield on Aug. 1, 1923, a son of the late James Edward and Alice Mitchell Wade.
He retired from DuPont in Waynesboro after 38 years of employment. He was also retired from the family business, Rodes Farm Inn at Wintergreen after 28 years. He was a member of Rockfish Valley Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite Hughes Wade, and brothers, William and Bland Wade.
He is survived by five children, Mildred Wade and fiancé Rudy Dozal of Nellysford, O.J. Wade Jr. and wife Betty of Nellysford, Clyde E. Wade and wife Robby Lynn of Winnsboro, S.C., Bliss Wade of Nellysford and Charlie Wade and wife Cindy of Stuarts Draft; six grandchildren, Amanda Clark, Christine Wade, Clayton Wade, Jeff Wade, Kevin Wade and Stephen Andes; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Small and Mary Austin Fisher of Waynesboro; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
A service was held on Dec. 29 at McDow Funeral Home. Burial followed at Rodes United Methodist Church Cemetery.
