Susie Elizabeth Evans, 69, of Schuyler died April 21.She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mamie Booth; a daughter, Brenda Lee Evans; one brother, Bill Martin; and one sister, Kathleen Evans.
Survivors include her husband, Marshall Evans; one daughter, Becky Brown; two sisters, Millie Evans and Dolly Hawley; two brothers, Clarence and Raymond Booth; one grandson, Wesley Evans; three granddaughters, Jennifer, Alex, and Kate Forrer and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on April 25 at the Evans family cemetery in Schuyler.

Andrew James Hickman Sr., 77, of Beech Grove, died on April 27.Born in Beech Grove on Aug. 31, 1930, he was a son of the late Carl Kenney Hickman Sr. and Mary Walker Hughes Hickman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Hughes Hickman.
He was founder of the Hickman’s Gas & Grocery in Beech Grove, a retired electrician from DuPont, and was a U.S. Army Paratrooper during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Beech Grove Christian Church and an avid farmer.
He is survived by his son, Andrew J. Hickman Jr. of Beech Grove; one brother, Carl K. Hickman Jr. and his wife, Thelma, of Staunton; three sisters, Hazel H. Phillips of Nellysford, Carolina H. Fox of Charlottesville and Elizabeth H. Alexander and her husband, Joe, of Ravenswood, W.Va.; and numerous other relatives and friends.
A graveside funeral service will be held on May 1 at 11 a.m. in Rockfish Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.

Dorothy Louise Critzer Jones, 89, of Esmont, died on April 26.
She was born in Albemarle County, daughter of the late Claude Crozet Critzer and Emma Elizabeth Haislip Critzer. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Walter Allen Jones; one son, Samuel Jones; three sisters, Eunice Reeves, Emma Atwell, and Corrine Dodson; four brothers, John, Jack, Andrew, and Charlie Critzer.
Surviving are two children, Luther Allen Jones and his wife, Dora, of Esmont, and Christine Haney and her husband, William M., of Charlottesville; three sisters, Mary Gray, Myrtle Isaacs, and Marge Buckholtz; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews and lots of friends.
A funeral service was held on April 29 at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home in Scottsville. Interment followed at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Esmont.

Andrea “Andi” Lyons Kohl, of St. Louis, Mo., 54, died on March 15.She married Daniel R. Kohl at Wintergreen in 1988 and lived in Nellysford until moving to St. Louis in 2008. She loved the Blue Ridge mountains, her animals and flowers. She volunteered at an animal shelter for homeless dogs. She was also a master gardener.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel; son, Dylan; mother, Pamela Lyons; sisters, Linda Bray and Julia Winters; and brother, James Lyons.

Stanley L. Patterson Sr., 86 , of Crozet, died on April 27. He was born Aug. 28, 1921, the son of the late Earl S. Patterson and Mary Woodson Patterson.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Virginia G. Patterson; two brothers, J. D.Patterson and Carlton Patterson; two sisters, Martha Jane Owens and Barbara Abrahanson.
He is survived by his son, Stanley L. Patterson Jr., and his wife, Pam, of Crozet; three grandchildren, Joshua, Jamie and Jake Patterson; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Franklin and Roger Patterson, both of Crozet; three sisters, Grace Morris of Ruckersville, Dorothy Jones of Waynesboro, and Katherine Coffey of Afton.
He was a member and a deacon in the Hillsboro Baptist Church, a life time member of the Crozet Sportsman Club and the VFW Post 8436 in Yancey Mills. He was the first of four brothers to join the armed forces in the Navy of World War II. He served over two years in South Pacific on the USS Baltimore. He earned a Battle Star in Asiatic Pacific, one star in the liberation of the Philippines and a good conduct medal.
A graveside service was held on April 30 at Hillsboro Cemetery.

Mabel Lee Sanders, 63 of Huffman Way Lane, Lovingston died April 26.Born March 30, 1945 in Nelson County, she was a daughter of the late Clyde H. and Rachel Lee Huffman.
She was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church of Lovingston and a health care provider for many years.
She is survived by a son Charles Sanders Sr. of Warsaw; a granddaughter Summer Nicole Sanders of Warsaw; a grandson Charlie Sanders Jr., stationed with the U.S Coast Guard in Portland, Maine; and several cousins.
A funeral service will be held on April 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Baptist Church in Lovingston. Interment will follow in the Huffman Family Cemetery.

Wanda M. Watland, 80, of Lutherville-Timonium, Md. and formerly of Shipman, died on April 22.
She was the wife of the late Julian Watland of Shipman.
She is survived by her children, Margarent Heyl, Douglas W. Smith, Edgar McDowell and Dianne K. Myers; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service was held on April 26 at Immanuel Baptist Church in White Marsh, Md.
