Just so it is known

I would like for your readers to be aware that the three person search and rescue team which located the two missing hikers on April 3 were members of the Montebello Volunteer Fire Dept. and Rescue Squad. The three Robbie Norton, Mark Hartman, and C.T Cash braved the freezing rain for several hours.
Members of the MVFD and RS, along with help of the Piney River Fire Dept.  spent many hours recently in recovering the body of the latest victim of Crabtree Falls.
Montebello firefighters, using three pieces of equipment, helped the US Forest Service is stopping
what is believed to be the largest forest fire in Va.
The Montebello firemen helped stop the fire at the Blue Ridge Parkway and Rt. 56 and were assigned the role of guarding a historic chapel near the intersection.

Letter of thanks

A fabulous fundraising carnival was held at TRES Friday evening, April 11, 2008. We want to thank an extended community from Nelson County and surrounding areas, businesses, organizations, families and individuals for all the donations and hard work that went into creating such a successful event for our school. So many people contributed to this event in so many different capacities that it is impossible to name them all, but we want to express our whole hearted appreciation and gratitude.
The silent auction, bake sale, food sales, and games provided a great night’s entertainment for all, and the large number of families who attended did their part to support our event, our school and our children. Thank you to all!
People who were there have commented that there was such a good family feeling of fun and sharing at school. Children of all ages had a terrific time together. The people of Nelson County place a priority on our schools and our children. Beyond the special time of that evening, children will continue to benefit from the funds raised by your generous efforts.  That is certainly very commendable! And that is exactly what we are saying to all who helped and participated in any way with our TRES PTO Spring Carnival. Many thanks for a job well done.
